The CTC met on Sunday, December 17 at 12:30 PM on zoom. The members present were Mike McMahon, Jim Cox, Juanita Rice, Mark Watson, Tina Ray, Gina Matkin, and myself, Patrice Watson. Juanita had to leave early so Patrice took the notes of the meeting.
Six agenda items were addressed.
Concerns and questions arising during the creation/editing of the minutes of the November meeting left some uncertainty on the following questions:
Should they be shortened and simplified? The consensus of the CTC was that this was up to the writer of the minutes.
Do they often fail to represent all points of view? No one thought that they often have failed to reflect all points of view, but sometimes views are left out or mis-represented, and the editing process is used to take care of such lapses.
Shall we change our way of recording our actions in CTC meetings? No change was made. We reinforce the idea that all CTC members should take the time to review the draft minutes and send in any comments or concerns within 2 days of the minutes being sent out. If you don't send in comments/cencerns within 2 days, it will be taken as approval of the minutes as drafted.
1. Treasury update. The current balance is $5224, down $20 from last time.
PayPal $1861
US Bank $3362
As usual, we ask for a detailed report on 2023, indicating Income and expenses.
2. Zoom training update: from Gina. How did it go? It was fun and everybody was a teacher and a student.
3. Sangha Monday night meetings: comments on the current format and suggestions for improvements. The idea of having occasional monday night meetings where the zoom meeting and the in-person meeting occurred separately was raised again. There was a consensus that meeting separately like this might be injurious to the sense of connection in the sangha. We acknowledged that some people find the commotion of technology in the Yoga Path to be disturbing. We will continue to work to improve the feeling of connection on each side of the screen and between the two sides.
4. Improvements to the HLS library: situation report (Juanita). Juanita reported, a book was checked out. She will make an announcement about the library in an upcoming Sangam meeting, ask members who have checked out a book to bring it back if they are finished, and design a new check out form.
5. Update from the retreat committee on the spring retreat, and other upcoming events. Ideas were raised for events, including an gathering of sangha leadership and monthly half-day dharma study sessions on zoom (meditation, online dharma talk, dharma sharing). We decided to table the leadership meeting idea and to refer the monthly dharma study idea to the retreat committee for their consideration.

1. Update on the Newcomers study group: how is it going? Anything else we can do to help?
2. Update from those exploring the idea of using sangha resources to help members with child care costs: Mark and Tina
