December 2022 CTC Minutes
On December 18, 2022 the Caretaking Council (CTC) of Honey Locust Sangha gathered via Zoom for a brief holiday gathering.
Patrice Watson, Catherine Stremlau, Mike McMahon, Tina Ray, Dave Watts. Jim Cox, Mark Watson and Juanita Rice (notetaker) met briefly for a Christmas/Hanukkah, Solstice gathering via Zoom. Mike McGannon was absent. Our short meditative sit acknowledged the spirit in and for which we met all year.
Our agenda was fellowship/togetherness with each other through the concrete practice of a Plum Village Tea Ceremony, to share gratitude and appreciation.
We each brought a beverage of choice in a vessel with special significance, with little stories of provenance and motivation, and a small snack. Our interbeing was strengthened by sharing stories of the cup or glass we chose. And then an extended “ Contemplation” on the sensual and physical goodness of the drink and the snack was enacted with intentional gratitude and appreciation for the physical manifestation of earth’s remarkable kindness and inventiveness.
Lastly, our beloved CTC member Catherine Stremlau who has invested her time, her passion, and her clear insights for a year, announced that she needed to draw back to handle a bonfire of practical tasks: working very long hours on her demanding job, raising a son, and all the rest. We are changed by her dynamism and say thank you. Catherine continues with her commitment to practice and study with the sangha.
Submitted with great happiness in honor of the teacher who guides us still,
Juanita
